Independence Day in India-Time and Date 2018: - Independence Day in India is celebrated every year on the 15th of August with great enthusiasm in all over the country. On this day India has achieved independence from British rule and became a sovereign country. India got the Independence on 15th August 1947 at 12:17 am the perfect time when the India got the Independence. On the eve of 15th August 1947, the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru has hoisted the flag of India which is in tricolor (saffron, green and white) at the Red Fort of Delhi. Independence Day is the patriotic holiday celebrated by the Indians worldwide. Many politicians appear at public events to show their support for the history, custom, and people of their country. Patriotic displays and family events are organized throughout the country.

Independence Day in 2018 is on a Tuesday, 15th August. India became an Independent nation on August 15, 1947, so it is a gazetted holiday which is held annually to remember this date. National, state and local government offices, banks and post offices are closed on this day. Flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs are held capitals and often involve many schools, colleges, and organization. Most of the people spend this auspicious day with their family or close friends. Other people go kite flying or sing or listen to patriotic songs. Many people display the Indian flag outside their homes or buildings. Independence Day is a patriotic holiday for celebrating the positive aspects of the United States.

Why 15th August?

It was Lord Mountbatten who had personally determined the date of August 15 because he had measured that date to be very lucky for his career. During the World War II, it was Aug 15, 1945, that the Japanese Army had capitulated before him (Lord Mountbatten was the commander of the allied forces).
